The hood door is arched over the dial. Roman numerals sit on the copper; the center is a landscape, and the metal is left to show its own color.

The waist is a single door in the figure of the walnut, hung on iron strap hinges, with an arrow pull. Ebony marks the hood corners and the small square plugs on the stiles.

The base is a shallow curve, not a plinth, so the case sits close to the floor.
